Hi, I'm Sebastian! I'm pretty new to the whole 'Dama scene, but it's loads of fun!

I just had question about the rankings and tricks. I can do a few things, but I can't spike it when I'm done.

For instance, say I do big cup. To get the necessary ranking, do I need to spike the tama when I'm done? Is that necessary for the trick to be "finished"?

I'm totally new to this, and I'd really like to start working my way up the ladder.

Thanks,
-Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Welcome to the forum. No, for the grading ladders you don't have to finish each trick with a Spike. (Unless that is part of the trick, like Around Japan, for example.) Just copy the GIF animations from http://www.kendama.co.uk/tricks.html. Good luck!

Dimensions

When you get really good, people like to see combos/ tricks end with a spike, its not necessary but in my mind it makes things a whole lot cleaner
but again you dont have to

when you get to the advanced level and you do finish every trick with a spike you may want to add in an earth turn/ jumping stick

Also, how many tries do you get if you are self certifying your self? Because I thought it was about ten attempts per try but I think I missread something :-[ :-[

The Void

Lol at "10 attempts per try".
Each try made up of 10 goes? ;-P

But 10 attempts per trick, yes. It's all clearly explained on http://www.kendama.co.uk/tricks.html
If you don't want to BUY MY BOOKS 😉, then why not ask your local library to order them in, and read them for free? That would help too. Cheers!
