Kendama Camp and the EKO were both amazing - it was great jamming with all you guys!

Spending time with so many well known pro players and also the not so well known, but still incredibly talented crew (some of whom I have no doubt are future pros) was excellent.

You all contributed to creating such a good atmosphere and I feel my own play came along more in one week than it had in the last 6 months just by having you all around.

Thanks to all the many players who travelled from all over Europe and to Sweets for coming in from the USA. It was also a real pleasure to have Mikami and the ledgendary Imada Hiromu who travelled from Japan to be with us to make sure we remebered good technique is the springboard to incredible play.

Support your local, national and international kendama events - they are amazing opportunities to meet new people, learn and most of all have fun together - do it the next chance you have - and I hope to see you there, wherever there might be!

:)

(This also reminded me of the wonderful film Matthew Ballard made of Imada-san, if youve not seen it, take a look below. . . it was a honour to spend a week in his company).

I had a great time at Kendama Camp, and EKO, and the bits between.

Thank you to:
Alice
@Kev for all your behind-the-scenes help
@jakub.zahumensky, @s070s & @cello_91 for dividing out the prizes
All the judges
Everyone who came to Kendama Camp (we all know how much everyone else missed out, right?)
The Scaramanga Six
Fell Edge Farm
Everyone who came to EKO - especially the newbies. It's great to see new faces join us each year.
The Sponsors - your generosity is greatly appreciated, thank you all.

Airport runs. Park meetings, rain, sheltering under skate ramps (mmmm, smell the...), trips for sandwiches and soups, return to the sunshine, Mohammed and Mohanned getting hooked.

Vague memories of campfire conversations about cell apoptosis, the universe in general, meteor showers, sheep, paper and cardboard, wood, "everything is energy", DJ @mreasyguy, cartoons from different generations, "DANG guh-dnk" teen spirit stick, and of course RABBITS!

Games of KEN and Follow. Marcel's custom and the invention and inversion of the Topnado.

Imada-san's flute playing, kitchen heroics, and insistence on getting the BASICs right, Mikami-san bringing no warm clothes, all the great grading action, sunny afternoon on Ilkley Moor ("bar tats", mainly, except I took mine, foolishly), knee exhaustion. Jimmy & @Kingi . Opening eyes to see two headstocks killing me (when they had the chance). @Oase, @s070s, @mreasyguy & fak slamming along with me to the Yorkshire Torture, general rock magnificence.

Rain switching plans to The Chemic, which proved to be a great move. Magda's conversion, addiction and taking the day off for the comp.

The comp, exciting semis and super-tense final. Rob! Mega Indian meal, with a bill that added up. Car smells of beer.

Last day in the park, passing interest from locals, filming tricks just for a laugh, silly games, KEN without letters. Talk of Leeds Kendama Club, and customs, eating pizza like a hungry man.

All the stuff I've already forgotten.

Leaving.

Looking forwards to seeing all the videos and photos posted on this forum.

Is it all over? Aren't we all still there?

If you don't want to BUY MY BOOKS 😉, then why not ask your local library to order them in, and read them for free? That would help too. Cheers!

Yeah! Great to see this, thanks Marcel. Cool memories. I liked the "mirrored" clip with you and @Elmoney, and your airport combo was cool. Great to have finally met you. :)

the hole trip was awesome
big thx to everyone !

jakub.zahumensky

Void made me think of another hint to the game @Kingi started: "In the land of Ogg, there are rabbits, but no foxes." Oh, dem lucky rabbits ;).

The whole trip was great, so many great people! I think we should make kendama camps more often! There has already been talk about this in Zlin at Czech kendama opens, so we will see what happens. Anyone who missed the camp, well, your loss. It was awesome! :)

Nice edit @cello_91 , will watch it again on a big-ass screen when I get back to Prague. Looking forward to all other edits and pics. My edit will come. Not sure when, but it will definitely come! :)

Keep clickin' everybody!

A final round-up post. Thanks once again to all our marvelous sponsors:
@sunnyD @Royal kendama @BKA @SweetsKendamas @Kendama Europe @Kendama Denmark @Craftybuddy @AlexSmith @cello_91 & Friday Kendama.

We had 43 attendees, with 26 competitors representing 13 countries.
This was a little smaller than hoped, but a few factors combined to keep numbers lower:
Clashed with "Golden Week Obon" - big Japanese summer festival/holiday, which prevented more Japanese players from coming. Lesson learned!
UK is "on the edge"/not mainland Europe, so travel costs were perhaps off-putting. Noted.
Clashed with World Yo-yo Contest, & a Danish marriage. :)
Plus a few other things.

Nonetheless, it was a great competition, with perhaps the closest final yet for the European title.
Thanks to everyone who helped in any way, and to everyone who came.

See previous posts in this thread for photo and video links, and full results.

it's been a while now, and had to work a lot after i got home
I shot a lot of clips and it wil take me some time to put that al into an edit
but here are some pictures

my last day/ night in Leeds was pretty awesome thanks to Jimmy and ingimusic
in my opinion THEY saved this kendama trip, by opening up that second area in the (chemist) Pub
it was a PERFECT meet-up place after the camp
even Imada-san was in this pub and played kendama
my  last night was so awesome there played and drink alot and had the greatest conversation i had in a while.

So i dubbed the chemist as the OFFICIAL KENDAMA BAR / PUB of leeds

I don't know about you guys, but i thought the Russel Scott hostel (all tought quit dirty) was the perfect place to harber the kendama players.
so i made a little thank you in name of all of us (jacub, mirek, BJ, Marcel, joris, matt, oase ) (good find Mirek!!)
