This post is info for people who say they “don’t get” forums. That’s perhaps because lots of people are now more used to sites like Twitter, facebook & Instagram, where info is presented as a stream of “newest first” posts.
If you like things that way, we’ve got good news
for you: You can view the forum like that too! Just bookmark and visit this link…http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=recent
…and hey presto! - All the forum posts in a stream!
(You can follow TheKendamaForum on Twitter
too, for a link to every new post.)
Or you can use the “unread posts since last visit” link: http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=unreadViewing on a small screen?
The forum has a fully responsive skin (since April 2016), so should scale nicely. Alternatively, you can use the Tapatalk app
which is specifically designed for using web forums on mobile devices. Try them both out, and see which you prefer.
The forum is divided into sections
(“Boards”), each covering a different type of topic. (e.g. Events, or Gear, or Videos.) This is to make it easier to find/search for a particular subject. If you are starting a new thread, just click the most appropriate one of those sections before clicking “New Topic”. If you are replying to another post, your reply will automatically be in the same thread/topic.
If you’re still a bit confused about other forum features
, please have a look at the topics in the Technical Questions board
. Hopefully you’ll find an answer there. There are lots of features like @Mentions, Notifications, and photo attachments which you may well find useful.
In short, if you’re new to forum-based boards - don’t panic
! Things might look a little different to what you're used to, but you’ll get the hang of things pretty quickly.
