Gear / Dama Dice
« Last post by bendixso on 10 May, 2018, 14:43:52 »
Hey everyone,

I just made an app for Kendama players. Dama Dice gives you a random trick to try on Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty settings. It also has a combo mode that challenges you further with a group of three tricks that naturally flow.

You can check it out here:

I'd love to hear your feedback. If you want me to add new tricks or put them in a different difficulty, it's pretty easy to do that. Also, if you have any other ideas in general, I'm listening.

I should have a free version out sometime in the next few months. I had to go with paid this time since it was easier.

Tricks / Re: How do you learn/practice new tricks?

For me, it depends what I'm learning the trick for. If it's just "a new trick", then I'll go about it similarly to you. Although I like to have an occassional 10-minute (which will feel like longer) solid session on "getting the feel", i.e. making sure I have an idea about what the movement/technique for the trick is. If however I'm learning a trick for a competition, or for a grading, then I try to have a daily run-through drill of the list. Or if it's a "video trick", then wait until I have sun/nice location, and then grind 'til it's done. If I'm still not getting anywhere with a trick, then I'll wait until the next meet, and ask someone for advice. Or check a tutorial video.

I'm wondering how everyone learns and practices new tricks, personally I don't grind it I just casually try every now and then while practicing other ones then when I feel comfortable with others I move on.

For example I really want to learn hurricane and managed to a few rotations but that's practicing it maybe once a day while I'm practicing Around Japan to Kenflip.  Mostly just having fun. :)

Hahahh! This was so random and lovely. The interviewer didin't know what she'd opened when she asked me to talk about kendama - this is a very edited account of what I blabbed on about for ages  8)

Welcome to the forum, too! Did you know about ? All skill levels are welcome, so feel free to join in if you fancy it. Cheers!
Thank you for the welcome :) I will certainly check out that collaboration!

I did a kenflip to base cup instead of to big cup at work.

my housemate flipped because we were messing with that trick for a solid week and he was getting close haha, sadly no footage unless I can get my hands on the cctv ;)
Be quick, most CCTV are only stored for 24 hours.

-Hi, I need access to the CCTV because reasons, it's very important.
Our CCTV is stored for about 1 month so I got time, I'm sure my manager will let me get it :D

Today I done my first Around Japan while playing golf with a friend, always good to take the Kendama everywhere! Haha
