Prizes for ladder winners!

The program may change but for now its looking like its going to be:

Meet & greet followed by some casual kendama games to get everyone in the mood
Moshe kame
Beginner ladders
lunch
Advanced ladders
Speed trick
Best Trick
Possibly a beats contest (although not sure how we'd judge it yet...) and freeplay, depending on the time

The ladders will be run on an interesting format, consisting of 10 tricks.
The two players peform the tricks in turn scoring 10 points for catching on the first attempt, 5 ponts for catching on the second attempt, 1 point for catching on the third attempt and 0 points for not catching in the 3 attempts allowed.

after the two players have finished the entire ladder the points are totaled and the winner is the player with the most points.
Should a tie occour the two players repeat the ladder and the first player to finish all the tricks regardless of number of attempts wins.
The winner advances to the next round and the loser is out of the competition.

So many questions ...
- where is the "Victory Kendama Open 2012"?
- what is a "around the block"?
- what's a "beats"/"beat"?

You mention "two players" - so it's in a knock-out format?

Assuming you have to reset to hanging position between each trick (as per BKA Speed Trick Challenge)?

Base cup
Penguin
=Penguin Base Cup, presumably?

Arround the block
=Small cup>Big cup>Base cup ?

Swing spike
Earth turn
Now, "Earth Turn" traditionally starts with a Swing In (Furiken), so I'm not clear if that's a single trick that we would call "Earth Turn", or if what you mean effectively means there will be 2 Swing Ins in a row....?

Watching! :-)

Lars, Victory Kendama are based in Grimsby, UK, so that's where we're currently guessing this will be.... ?

Yes indeed it is a knock out

you do have to reset after each trick

yes penguin base cup

yes arround the block is, small, big, base

for earth turn you can get it on to the spike however you want (big cup spike or pull up spike or swing spike... hell you could even do fast throw spike then earth turn and it would count :P )

a beats contest is kendama to music and you score points for landing tricks on the beats in the music (this probably wont happen and if it does it will just be a bit of fun at the end :)

So is there a date confirmed for this yet? The facebook page says July 6th, which is a Friday. An unusual choice if so?
