How did you get your nickname?

I'm always very curious about nicknames.  There's a story to what we call ourselves, and I'd be really interested to hear how you got the name you go by.
 
My story for going by the name 'QuadRaptor' goes back to roughly 1997 or so.  The first computer video game I ever got was Quake 1.  I played that game for at least 12 years.  Anyway, when I first started playing, Jurassic Park had recently come out and I was obsessed with Velociraptors.  So my original nickname on Quake was 'Raptor'.  However, there were some players on there that kept asking me stuff as if I was a friend of theirs.  Turned out there was another Quake player that went by 'Raptor', but named after the F-22 Raptor jet rather than the dinosaur.
 
So I was trying to think of how I could make my name more unique.  One of the powerups in Quake is called 'Quad Damage'.  So I put 'Quad' and 'Raptor' together, and there you go.  It's been my nickname for about 17 years now.
 
So that's my story.  How about yours?  How'd you get your nickname?

[Sqveel]

2 nicknames/aliases for me. One is Juu, which is pretty self explanatory when my name is Julie. Let's just say my friends are so lazy an extra syllable is too much for them

The other is the Sqveel. I gained that in college. I've always been a furry and seen myself as a squirrel more than anything. They're my favourite animal   The people at crewe college decided I was too unique to just be a squirrel, one of them started calling me sqveel, and it's stuck since.  Years later and the animal "a sqveel" has been developed into a kind of half squirrel half dragon venomous beast thing. -



I use it online everywhere as like tigger, i am the only sqveel.

[Legacy]

I read the I Am Number Four books where the characters have special powers called Legacies. My favorite character is a guy named Eight, so I am Legacy of Eight, but Legacy for short

I think I'll explain some (Rob)logic to my username...

As some of you probably know, I started off with diabolo. After discovering the diabolo.ca forum I was quick to join - I user to be a keen poster on d.ca too! My first dilemma was a username...
My first idea was to use "escapees6" like my YouTube channel but I didn't like the idea of having a number in an account name on a forum.

In diabolo terminology 3 diabolos is shortened to "3D". Or 3 Dimensions to those without any knowledge of what the hell we're are talking about.

So Dimensions just stuck...

[Critzdama]

I actually came up with my name from a previous name I came up with from Team Fortress 2 (heh).

I really liked the idea of these "Critical hits", and the word "Critical" just appealed to me. I usually see people get mad when I got them with a random critical hit, it's just that feeling the player and the opponent both have, so I came up with "The Critical Feeling".

Months later, I shortened my name on Steam to "Critz", and my friends said that that would fit me better, so therefore I was renamed "Critz".
Some more time passed, and that's when I allowed myself to realize how much I really loved Kendama. Lots of people name things with "dama", like "Dama Dare" or "Daily Dama", so I decided to add "Dama" to the end of my name, hence "Critzdama".

Emagdnim is my forum name, stole it from mindgame.
Mindgame made great rollerblading wheels, clothing and videos. there website was emagnim.tv and emagdnim.com.

My real first name _is_ Lars. So Lars Vegas came quite naturally. My best friend is Sam Francisco. And sometimes we meet Paolo Alto, Bruce Sells, Rita de Janeiro, and Matt Rid

I used to fight competitively in Muay Thai, which most people know as thai boxing.  I wore a lot of tie dyed stuff then, and my first name is sky, so thaidiesky just stuck.

Oh, in my head I was pronouncing that as "Thai-dee-es-ski". D'oh!

[Icemonkey]

Jake is my real name, so I have lots of nicknames like "Shake", "Shakey-boo (my sisters call me that)", "snake" , "steak" or really any word that rhymes with Jake. Icemonkey is my most unique one though. 

I got it about 5 years ago at this summer camp I used to go to. So my hair is very, very blonde (it's what so many people remember me by, I've been asked if I bleach my hair before) and I always loved to climb trees and random stuff when I was younger (still do, It's why I rock climb now ). So I was climbing in the rafters in the cabin that I was staying in and some kid yelled "Hey Icemonkey! Get down from there!" Ice = because of my blonde, almost white-ish hair, and monkey = because I was climbing like a monkey It stuck with for the rest of the time I was at the camp and each year I went back. It got to the point where many kids didn't know my actual name, they just knew me as Icemonkey.

I decided to use that name as my account name for most online things. I used to play Minecraft a lot, and when I initially started, "Icemonkey" was already taken as a name so I decided to use "Ic3M0nk3y" instead. That numbered variation is what's on my youtube account too.
