The rules for this one are slightly different, so read carefully….

Rules
- Competition is open to all players, worldwide, as long as they are a member of this forum. (All lurkers/non-members are welcome to join, of course!)
- Use a standard, competition-sized kendama, unless otherwise stated.
- Perform all tricks, in order, as specified, in a single run, with no misses, unless otherwise stated.
- Stay in shot the whole time.
- Upload a video of yourself completing the challenge as a hidden/private video or link. Send a private message to BKA (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1) on this forum with a link to the video. Do not post or discuss your video elsewhere on the net. (Well, "I entered" is okay, but nothing about how you did.)
- No sneakiness!
- We will announce every time we receive an entry (but not who from, or how successful it is).
- After 30 days, all entries will be revealed, and the winners announced.
- 1st place: JKA/Kendaman t-shirt (XL)
- 2nd place: Sticker pack
- 3rd place: Cup and ball

KCC 20 One to Ten (Squared)

The tricks get easier as you go along, but the quantities increase.

1. Dead Drop[1]
2. UFO 2 in a row
3. Spacewalk 3 in a row
4. Bat 4 in a row, 3 seconds each[2]
5. Eyes covered Gunslinger 5 in a row[3]
(Cover your eyes with your free hand. You may look to reset between tricks. Perform this trick standing facing the camera.)
6. Slip on Stick 6 in a row
(Perform with the Small cup facing the camera. We want to see clean, hole-flat-on-side-of-spike catches.)
7. Swing In 7 in a row
(Start with ball held)
8. Aeroplane 8 in a row
(Start with ken held)
9. Spike 9 in a row
(No spin)
10. 100 Moshi Kame at a minimum of 135 bpm.
(Start with ball hanging. Time starts at first cup catch. All catches should be full-contact. 1 'rimshot' cup catch will be allowed as long as the following catch is clean. 2 rimshots in a row is not acceptable.)
11. Tie breaker: Immediately do another moshi kame run. Most catches in 60 seconds.
(If you drop, you may not restart.)

The "in a row" tricks do NOT have to be connected. (i.e. You should reset between each attempt.)

Use the same kendama for all tricks.

Interesting, except for 2 and 3 I think I can handle the rest, time to practice UFOs and Spacewalk, I guess.

I was excited about this until the 5 gunslingers with eyes closed.  :-[ Thats the deal breaker for me. To hard to even try. I love gunslingers a lot but 5 is a few too many I think. Good luck on this one.

i hear that five might be okay on its own but eyes closed... yikes

Really? Hmm. Gunslinger is a funny trick: some people get it super-quick and find it very easy, others struggle endlessly with it and just can't get there.
(Oh, and just in case you're thinking it's a harder version...

Thanks Void. I thought it was much harder. I was trying to do this with my hand over my eyes. http://youtu.be/zz5U7_wk2H8 (http://youtu.be/zz5U7_wk2H8)    ;D

No wonder you were struggling! That's Gunslinger Spike. (Under the formula "manoeuvre - ending".)

And... yeah... it's like you've never read our books.  :P

Anyway, good luck on the challenge!

Wait do the gunslinger with our eyes closed do we execute the gunslinger the way Void did in the link?

Free hand covering the eyes.
Hmmm... Probably best if we say you should face the camera for this trick.

Haha can't even do a ufo once :p. Way to hard for me. Maybe in a year or 2 i can do it! (Playing for 1,5week now)

I had a go at this today. Messed up in the spacewalks, and in a few of the later tricks too, but it did feel like it was doable. Well, good luck everyone.

No my question is do we do the gunslinger like Void did or how Matt did in his tutorial.?

Like Void did, and also as was shown in the video linked to for Gunslinger in the original post.
You're really not good with footnotes, are you?  ;)

Okay so it has to stay on the spike. Correct?

Post by: BKA on 19 February, 2013, 12:16:25
Yes. And don't touch the ball with your fingers during the catch.

#1 (1x Dead Drop) and #9 (9x Spike) went well, but the in-betweens ...
Anyway, today I mastered Spacewalk for the first time. Yet the spike got really damaged by trying Dead Drop a few times too often. I know about white glue but never considered it necessary - that is, until now. Looks like I have to give up my trusted 1st real Kendama that went along with me around half of the world for the last 18 months.  :'(

Maybe it's not too late to save the tip. Try to reshape it by gently levering the edge of the ball hole around it. Then use superglue to reharden it. http://www.kendama.co.uk/setup.html (http://www.kendama.co.uk/setup.html)

30 day deadline passed. KCC is closed for prizes. Remains open as a purely personal challenge.

A bit late, and I win.... Nothing! Nice to have cracked it though.

Nice one void!
Turns out to crack anything all you need is some festive music, a cup of tea and a nice radiator to keep your fingers warm!

Well done! I genuinely believe that this was the hardest KCC yet (with 19 & 4 close by!)

Thanks D.
I'm not sure it was so high up the difficulty list, though. I think #8, #12, #13, #16, #17, #18 and #22 all beat it too for toughness, as well as 19 and 4. But then, different things are harder for different people, so maybe you're "right" after all. :)

Well done, Void. Tried this today for a bit. Hideous first two tricks, levels out after that, then it really is consistency with the Aeroplanes and Swing-ins and Spikes. I'm amazed that so many people find (blind mice) Gunslinger all that more difficult than looking (key word here is more, guys): I feel that looking is almost redundant with this one - it's all about the momentum, and that either works or it doesn't, no matter how I stare at it. Just goes to show how differently everyone finds each trick - on a personal note, I find Dead Drop the most hateful trick ever dreamt up by a player.

Cheers, TMO. Yep, I agree about the blind version of Gunslinger. It's very much a feel trick. I'm saying that even though I did mess up the run on it twice when filming. :)
