Again Void, a very challenging list you have conjured up this year!  I am really looking forward to learning a lot of the tricks on the list, some I have not even attempted so this should be a nice challenge in itself!  I should also have a new recruit or two with me to bring this year to the competition, us Cambridgions shall be there in force!

Hey guys, long time no see!

I've been very busy at work so haven't had much time for forum posting. However this post is to confirm I shall be attending the 2014 BKO 100%. It's practice, practice, practice from here on out so I can't wait to meet up with everyone again and have some serious fun in may.

And I'll be back on the forum from now on aswell! :p

Found some pretty cheap coach bus tickets from London to Leeds, so it looks like it's going to work out rather fine.

Are there any cheap places to stay near the BKO? Even if it's in a fellow clicker's back yard?

Local Knowledge:
Adel is pronounced (A-dul) to rhyme with 'saddle', not (Ay-del) as in 'cradle'. This may help when getting a bus or taxi especially as there is a place called Idle (yes, really) not too far away which is pronounced similarly.

By car:
From the south use M1
From the north use A1(M)
East & west use M62 / M621 motorways.

By train:

By air:
Leeds is served by : Leeds Bradford Airport and Manchester airport. Flights are available from a huge number of places.
 
  Leeds Bradford airport is approximately 5 miles away from the BKO2014.
  Manchester is about 60 miles away but caters for long haul flights.

TRAVEL IN LEEDS:
Bus:
Bus services are frequent in Leeds (although less so on a Sunday). Visit the West Yorkshire Metro website and First Leeds for up to date timetables and general information nearer the time.

You can also call the Metro Line for bus travel advice / timetables anytime on +441132457676.

Buses heading from the city centre to Adel are the number 1 and the number 28.

However another good option is -

Taxi:
Taxis are quite cheap in Leeds, if shared by two or more people they can often be cheaper than the bus!

Note - City / black cabs are more expensive than minicabs so its best to use the numbers provided.

A cab from the city centre to the venue will be £8-12 maximum, and will take around 10-15 mins. Cabs from Headingley to the venue should be no more than £5.


PLACES TO STAY:
Google is your friend and there are many places to stay in Leeds - but for what it's worth, the YHA in Headingley looks like the cheapest and best located option.

I'd recommend checking laterooms.com for discounts in hotels greater than going direct to the hotels.

After the event on Sunday:
The plan is to head to The Stables Pub in the grounds of Weetwood Hall for food and drink.

13.00-14.30 Move to Millenium Square, for some new scenery
~14.45 Catch bus to Roundhay Park

18.00+ Head for food & drink somewhere.

Did a little snooping around to price this trip up for me and found the Ibis hotel is a little cheaper than the YHA.

It looks very central and as It will probably be easier for me to travel up on the Friday and leave the Monday this seems Ideal. it works out £107.35 for a standard twin room for the 3 nights.

It is a bit further away from the venue for the Sunday but if taxi's are cheap enough this should be OK.
