Title: Big cup throw Lighthouse
Post by: happygoat on 14 August, 2014, 13:50:23
Any ideas on the trick where you start with the tama in big cup (ken grip) and then throw the ken in the air, making one rotation, when you meanwhile grab the tama and then land the ken in lighthouse position? I can do this sometimes but the tama hole is then always facing down making it almost impossible to continue...

1. Before you start, the ball is hanging down.
2. Pull up to Big Cup
3. After you have done the Big Cup, the hole is in position X.
4. During the transition move, the hole turns from position X to position Y.

Therefore, you know how much, and in which direction, the hole turns during (4). And therefore, you know where you need the hole to be at position X in order for it to be in the desired position Y.

Therefore, during (2), make sure you put the hole in the correct position X!

Hole Control, baby, hole control!

I dunno sounds like you are in a perfect scoop spike/ stuntplane finish position!
One of the arts of kendama is to find a cool way out of seemingly impossible positions. It's not a mistake if you made it look cool.

But yeah, hole control! There is another art to catching the ball in perfect tama grip with the hole ready for an aeroplane/falling down that is useful for this but super useful for spacewalks.
