Well I was thinking from bat toss up the whole shebang with a little twist so the ken does full rotation snatch the tama and land in spike. (A one turn airplane if you will)

Next trick is:
98. [from Bat] > Fast Hand 1-Turn Aeroplane
- throw everything with a little twist so the ken does full rotation
- snatch the tama and
- land in (1-Turn) Aeroplane

Trick Rules
- You cannot reply to your own trick.
- You must wait to re-enter until 5 other people have done a combo after you set one.
- You must wait to have your attempt verified by the previous setter before setting the next step.
- Use any competition-sized kendama.
- You should start the new transition from the finish position of the previous trick. i.e. You can just place the kendama into position. You don't have to do the previous move, but you can if you want to. But if so remember to...
- Hold the start and finish positions of the combo still for a couple of seconds please.
Video Rules (To help for a nicer compilation video)
- Make sure you have adequate lighting. Please film in daylight if possible. Clips usually look very poor in artificial light.
- Please film in Landscape, not Portrait, not Square.
Successful entrants get put in the prize draw.
Sonicpearse, the milky oolong, The Void, donald grant & DamaLife24 must sit out round 98.
Good luck everyone!

So, it looks very similar to Base cup -> Aeroplane, but it turned out to be quite more difficult although indeed they are of the same style.

I was not really happy with my only video on this block, so I gave this one a try.

Is that how you wanted it? I was not sure if that is an aeroplane or a 1-turn aeroplane.

Also, completely unrelated, I hope DamaLife will appreciate the new look of my goatee :-P

Nice effort shalafi but unfortunately that was only a half turn making it just an areoplane. I believe in the mystic powers of your goatee!

That's why I said I wasn't sure. I'll try again tomorrow, but that extra turn is going to be tough.

Well, it looked to me like the spike turned 360° from pointing downwards ( in the Bat position), to pointing downwards again inside the tama ( in the Aeroplane position). So therefore I would say that the trick you are requesting is a 2-Turn Aeroplane, no? Which is fine, of course, just need to be clear about it.
If you don't want to BUY MY BOOKS 😉, then why not ask your local library to order them in, and read them for free? That would help too. Cheers!

DamaLife24

Yes void now that I think about it you are correct. If you go based off of starting position of the ken. So I retract my earlier statement. Shalafi your first attempt is the trick I requested in writing so I'll accept it.
Bryan Burnett

DamaLife24

Thanks for pointing that out void I didn't look at it like that. Well done shalafi what's next?

shalafi

Ah, ok then. I believe the ken turned 350 degrees ;-)

So, next trick is going to be the Kendama spin I learned from Jake. In lack of better name I'll call it Jake's gunslinger.

From aeroplane grip, place your index on top of the cup on the right.
Make the kendama turn around your finger clockwise (from your point of view). The kendama does 1.5 turns.
End position is pen grip with the tama on top.

For more details: http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1912.0.html

Tip: It is a big motion, you'll need to move your arm a lot. It is a lot like a reverse gunslinger, but in a different plane.

Good luck

Sonicpearse

This looks a good trick - I was trying last night but just couldn't generate enough force whilst gunslinging sideways to keep tama on spike. Gotta keep on trying...
Sonicpearse

shalafi

@Sonicpearse hope this helps: You have to do almost a spiral with your arm, starting left, then up and right (big movement) and then down and a bit left (very fast)

The movement looks a lot like a golden spiral: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_spiral
