(Not to be confused with Scooping Big Cup or Scoop Spike)
A.K.A. Scooping Goldfish (from the Japanese name).
This one's all about speed. Get in contact with the ball, whilst holding the ken with your hand twisted as far in as you can. Now simultaneously untwist your wrist sharply as you swish your hand sidewards and up.
You have to be very Zen about it to overcome the friction of the floor. Think (believe!) that your hand is going to travel through the ball, and it should just about work. Once you've got the technique, Big Cup isn't too bad, Small Cup is doable, but unfortunately, Base Cup is just a pig.
Have fun!
Thanks to KendAlex for the attached video. It's a little bit trickier with the kendama I used here... I suggest trying with a standard kendama! ;)

I took me a long time to figure out the physics of scooping big cup... I don't think I've ever tried small cup. Base cup just defeats me
