Here we go!
Stamp It. Stomp It. (SISI) is an online kendama competition with the aim of you really showing off your own style and having the freedom to incorporate your favourite tricks.
There is a prize of £15 (sent via PayPal or bank transfer), which could get someone a cheap kendama or be put towards a more expensive one.
Another prize, a Ken Co Orca Girr (pictured below), will also be up for grabs. This kendama was donated by
@ltdama. The person that gets the furthest in this competition can chose to take the money or the kendama and the other prize will go to the runner up!
RULES
* Perform the trick (or tricks) for that round in one combo, in any order you like.
* Any recognisable variation of a trick (e.g. grip type) unless specified otherwise, will be accepted.
* Post your video links right here on this thread!
* Head-mount footage is okay - Player must be able to back themselves up with evidence if there is a dispute.
* The combo must end with a spiked tama, in any grip.
* Each round will be approximately a week but possibly reduced towards the later stages of the comp.
* No trick lengths will be timed, however I do expect some degree of control.
* Entries must be completed before the deadline.
* Video quality has to be adequate, and filmed in landscape.
* Tricks must remain in frame, although I will have some digression.
* Competition sized, wooden kendamas only.
* One entry per round.
* No cuts or editing (including slow-mo) during your combos.
* Any person in the competition has the right to dispute a trick.
* Referee (
@Jak) has the final say on a decision.
* If only one player posts a video in a round, second place will go to the person that posted first in the previous round
* Post your video links right here on this thread!(Did I say that already?)
Going to miss a week due to EKO or a holiday? Don't worry, you can miss one round of the competition, however you must post the missed round along with the video for the following week. That's a one late entry second chance!
:)
BKA has also kindly donated another prize to the person who performs the most creative line as voted by the players. This will be a Beech Su Lab kendama (also pictured below!). After each round the players will vote for their favourite; the top voted video of each round will go into the final where one last vote on will happen to find the overall winner.
Voting rules:
# Any videos posted will not be accepted until AFTER that contestant's has voted. (New rule 31/08/16)
# you can only vote if you're still in the competition or voting in the final.
# you can only vote for one person
# your vote should be based on skill, creativity or originality
# you do not have to give a reason for your vote unless asked to by the referee
# Late entries can not be voted for
# The round winner will be announced at deadline - no late votes.
# if only 2 people are in the competition the referee will vote
# your vote should be posted alongside your next video entry.
Good luck!

@Jak BKA will donate a beechwood SuLab natural for this prize.

If you require better lighting or angle then let me know!
Edit: can we enter more than once each round incase we think of something more unique? @Jak

@fiddletricks, I'm going to say it's a limit of one entry per round; I think that would be most fair to people who have less time to film than others. I'll edit the rules.
Don't worry though, that's a creative entry! Accepted!

Also, your editing question, no edits please. Will add that to the rules too, thank you.

I know what I want to record, will get some time tomorrow :)
So I just got an awesome message on Facebook from Lawrence ( ltdama ) saying he wants to donate a kendama and has asked me to share these pictures.
It's a Ken Co Orca Girr.
(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160717/6ede42fc9a2405d0c9c0261f0b5bb929.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160717/b332b557ea4d66c1d2af81e7d9be2a33.jpg)
The person to get the furthest in this competition can chose to have this kendama or to take the £15!
Lawrence did say however that he may not be able to ship worldwide depending on the cost. I will however help him so he can post this out. If the winner of this wants to donate anything towards that shipping (and that would be completely up to them), that would be massively appreciated.
[emoji4]
Please follow Lawrence on instagram... Lt_dama
Hey! Thanks for holding this. I have a question. Do the videos have to be fresh? Or can I use a video from the past to enter. Thanks - Gabe Frampton (Maui, Hawaii)
This may be a controversial rule but I'm going to say they don't have to be fresh. However, you'll soon find yourself out of the game if you completely rely on old footage as I'm going to put out some unusual combination of tricks you've likely never filmed together before.

I'm sorry for not properly tagging people to accept their entries. So, just to clarify in case any have missed it, the following people have had their Round 1 entries accepted. Well done guys.
@The Void@fiddletriks@KenSan@shalafi@kendamatty @Kofi@the milky oolong @mreasyguyBeen a quiet day today. Hoping to see lots more submissions so please help spread the word :)
So a couple of questions:
Does POV/Headmount footage count?
Is slo-mo considered "edited"?
And do variations of lighthouse still count? or MUST it have the actual lighthouse trick at some point?
If "yes" to all the above, see entry below.
P.S.- stoked on this contest! Great idea!

Good questions.
So, any variation of a trick, unless specified otherwise, will be accepted. I want to see your own interpretation of the tricks! With that in mind though, the trick can't be completely unrecognisable.
I'm afraid I can't accept slow mo; firstly, to keep my "no editing" rule simple but also because it might not be spotted and extra credit might be given to the trick.
The hard question for me is do I accept head-mount footage. I love the POV look and I don't expect anyone would cheat and get someone else to do their trick but it is nice to see who is performing it... I'm going to say head-mount footage is okay but I am going to urge people not to use it unless they can fully prove who is performing the tricks if for any reason there is a dispute. Any person in the competition has the right to dispute a trick.
I will add these rules to the main post.
On that note
@talincrow, I'm going to have to decline your trick due to the slow mo.Sorry!
Please post the raw footage or film again! :)
So uhm, one question... Has anyone said STOMP? 8)
http://youtu.be/z3i3kth4VRE
Man, I just LOVE the sound of that Ash SU Lab - Thanks Void for the lucky draw!!! After (with?) Keyaki turning out to be my all time top favourite!!!
Fun fact #1: it took me about 2 hours total (possibly a bit more) to land this
Fun fact #2: got a decent bruise from it, too :D
And finally one not-so fun question for Mr. Jak - will the comp go on with no interruption during the EKO? I will be able to film, but not post - BEING OFFLINE RULEZZZ! I can show you on camera if you're there, though... ;)
@mreasyguy , how dare you steal my idea and then post it before me? ;D :o I just saw it now after posting mine. So cool and weird.
Anyway, so many cool entries! Great idea hosting this
@Jak !
@jakub.zahumensky. Haha, there's been amazing entries and it's only round 1! Two hours is great dedication to the first round, I hope you keep that up Jakub! Sadly I'm pretty sure your fingers are holding the balance in the lighthouses so I have to decline it. You'll just have to do it again!
...Only joking, accepted!
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
I have had a few people mention that they won't be able to post during EKO or as they're going on holiday. For that reason I think I will allow one week where you can miss a round, however that missed round video will have to be posted along with the next round video. I don't want people to not join in because they know they'll be away for a week...

That's such an elegantly smart/inclusive solution.
@jakub.zahumensky I didn't "say" Stomp, but my combo included a Stomp. :)

@The Void , so it did :) In the very beginning of your combo it looks as if you were going for a tap tornado LH, but then you landed a regular LH - so disappointing :P ;)

1.5 juggle, ghost lighthouse - lighthouse flip, insta trade.
Edit: Please excuse the "YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!"
I'm going to have to review it from my pc later @Cand1es. At a quick glance it does appear very dark and on my phone screen it's very small and I can't properly see how clean the trick is. I will be very kind on this round however I think on a future round I might have already declined this one.

@Cand1ez, I'm going to accept your entry cause I'm nice like that but, and this obviously goes for everyone, I'll likely not accept that quality in future rounds. Well done on the lace.
Also everyone, just be aware, and I know this is difficult when trying to balance out a trick, to try and avoid turning your back to the camera and blocking the view of the kendama. I can let it go in most cases but I don't want to have to decline a combo cause I can't see a trick.
:-)

Last 45 minutes to get any more entries in!
Well done to the 20 people to make it through to Round 2!
In order to win the SuLab kendama, kindly donated by
@BKA, when you post your next video you will also need to vote for your favourite combo from the previous round. The person with the most votes will make it to the final where we'll ask all the contestants back to make one final vote. Most votes at the end wins the kendama! If in the case of a tie, I (
@Jak) will have the deciding vote. Simple, right?
This requires you guys to be honest...Pick the person you thought had more creativity, flow, or skill and not just your best friend. And no, you can't vote for yourself! Post your vote when you post your next video! It would be nice if you tell us why you are voting for their combo, but that's up to you!

Very nice, I'm guessing that would be around the turntable? Or something similar!? Accepted!
1 vote for Jakub!

Thanks. It's not quite "Turntable The World", as that would strictly speaking have the base cup turntabled with the spike on the same hand's (pinkie?) finger. I thought of that, and had a quick go, but the last grip change is quite awkward, and I don't have the time to grind it out right now. So I went for the cop-out easier option. :)
Heres my clip for round 2

After getting down to 4 clips ive decided my vote for the 1st round goes to
@Ashdama i liked the location, use of the rock and the multiple hard tricks to lighty. Great stuff.
@kayadama Ha, love it! Accepted!
1 vote for Ashdama!
Are old clips allowed? Got a nice around one, but ill be too lazy to lace it again :D
@Ashdama Quote from: Jak on 18 July, 2016, 08:12:50
This may be a controversial rule but I'm going to say they don't have to be fresh [clips]. However, you'll soon find yourself out of the game if you completely rely on old footage as I'm going to put out some unusual combination of tricks you've likely never filmed together before.
Yeah I'm still debating with myself if I said that right thing with that rule but as it stands yeah you can. I'll make sure there's something unusual coming up soon so you have to film something fresh.

I dont post anything to insta really, just on there to spy on everyone else!
I have 2 videos of the one I want to send, which turned out being not an "Around the..." but none of them is flowy, so I'll try to get it better, otherwise I have something to post already.
Plenty of time to get it how you want it ,
@shalafi! :)
Thanks, ill post it later on. Really like filming new tricks but im on my pokego grind atm and the line alone takes about 1,30 :D please do more unsual tricks!
My entry. I'll check all the previous videos and vote later on today.

Gutted ive only just seen this comp. Just been camping too so would have been able to come up with something I'm sure. Really impressed by the entries so far though keep it up everyone.
A little bit more creativity than the last time, but after completing I saw that
@shalafi has a much more elaborate version of the general idea ... Still, here's my video
2016 - #2 Small cup, big cup, base cup, spike - with loops (http://youtu.be/aRj3C97neIA)
And the Southern German jury's vote goes to
@talincrow - I like tricks with strained strings ...
@LarsVegas, nicely done! Accepted.
One vote to talincrow. Thanks.
@shalafi, good combo! Accepted.
my vote for round 1 goes for
@Maicodama but it was darn hard to choose, too many good tricks!
A vote for Maicodama, thanks
@shalafi
Just realised I missed this competition... Filmed my trick on vacation but had no opportunity to upload..
Ah well, that allows me to check out some gnarly tricks in this thread. Keep up the good work!
Have been trying to get this trick since the BKO havinf seen
@Maicodama hit it rarher sweetly on IG.
Anyways its a bit un-clean but I was pretty chuffed at finally getting it. Turns out some kens are better at slingers than others :o

@HansNickmans : The rules state, that you can _once_ post-deliver a clip. You just have to show both combos for the next round.
@Jak maybe has to confirm this, but I suppose this should be valid for the first round too. I.e. in my opinion, you can enter in the second round by showing combos for the first and second round.
But then, maybe the first round is special ...
Haha no you're exactly right. Everyone can have one late entry. Although I may add that it won't apply when or if only one person posts before the deadline, making them the winner.

@Kofi . I loved the creativity of the arm bounces (which nearly clinched it), but left to right hand switches stood out for me.
@kendamatty, so casual! Accepted.

Oh mat... Bird turn the world while holding a cat and teasing him. The other people will have to work very hard to steal my vote from THAT.
Kay, here we go for round 2: a little thing I like to call "Around the grip switch"
http://youtu.be/kY0vXK9YIig
From Round 1 I vote for
@fiddletriks , because I was toying with the idea of balancing a lighthouse on a string before and never gotten around to actually practice it. So this just naturally calls to me ;) Also, it's something I've never seen before.
Around the grip switch looks a cool trick! Accepted!

@cello_91, this is basically two competitions put together... One for the best combo (voted for by the players) and one for the person that is able to get the furthest - the tricks to include will get much harder so I think that deserves a prize. Does that make sense?
Anyway. So many tricks in your combo, really well done dude! Accepted!

Bird has to be on big cup, penguin has to be on base cup. You have until Sunday 7th August 2016 9pm BST, good luck!
NOTE: Sorry if there's been any mistakes; I've had to rush this as I'm going on holiday in a few hours. I will have internet access at times so please bear with me and I'll accept your clips as soon as I can. Also, I may post the next round early or late, however, the deadline for you guys won't change. Cheers!
Id really like to share,but my cutting program keeps on rendering weird files :D So I just post round 2 with round 3 and im in again? Also pokego really kills all my free time :D, but ill get something for round 3 and the rendering problem fixed!

Sorry I've been late with my entry, finding it difficult to manage my time right now.
Put a lot of sweat into the first line, unfortunately took me longer than the cut-off date to film, though it appears pretty easy. Too bad it doesn't count.
The second trick isn't all that ingenious, I'll try better for the fourth if I'm still in, do something more creative.

@Ashdama, no it's not penguin lighty I'm afraid, just penguin base cup.
As well as being on holiday I'm having a hard time at the moment running this comp because I've broken my phone screen. I'll try and get Round 4 up at the correct time but if I have any more issues it could be late, maybe tomorrow evening when I'm home. The deadline still applies. This has been a very quiet week for video posts...if you didn't post last week make sure you post both this weeks and last weeks before 9pm BST or you'll be out! Thanks!
I know what I want to do. I just need to find some time to try it out.
I have mine filmed, but I won't be able to post it until after the deadline (probably tomorrow). Also, haven't been able to watch this week's other entries yet, so I suppose my vote will be too late.
You can have your late entry Void, but yeah I'm afraid a late vote won't count.
Here is my ROUND 3 submission, I haven't seen anyone Else's yet. So I wasn't sure if the 2 tricks had to be separate being as the examples were separate clips. Anyway I did it in one clip. Took me some grinding man. Hope you guys enjoy. Much love

Hey Jak, thanks, yes, the tama rotates 1,5 times at that point. Hope that's ok!
My vote for Round 3 goes to
@jakub.zahumensky, great line and love the celebration!
To be honest,
@the milky oolong, I'm not sure if an earth turn is defined by the rotation of the tama or if it has to be from spike to spike.
Because I'm not sure, and because that trick was so steezy,I'm going to give it you. Accepted.
However, I'm afraid I cant accept your vote for jakub. His round 3 video was late so can't be voted for. Can you decide from the 4 videos that got in on time; I recapped them a few posts earlier. Thanks!

To be honest, @the milky oolong, I'm not sure if an earth turn is defined by the rotation of the tama or if it has to be from spike to spike.
I did mine on the slip ring... I would think it would be from same spot to same spot? Not sure about the official definition, though...
Ok, get what you mean, but thanks for letting me through!
My vote is for
@DarrenTheJew and his big stance play, though it was hard to choose this over
@fiddletriks's efforts!
Ah yeah,
@jakub.zahumensky, I hope no-one minds me passing it on an earth turn from hand to spike, I agree that is probably not the definition of the trick however Im going to let it off this time round and accept an 'earth turn' as a tama rotating 360+degrees. I will describe each trick in more detail on future rounds if i want something more specific. Hope everyone's ok with that.

Darren's line was amazingly flowy and how you caught the bird was awesome, but my vote goes to
@fiddletriks, just cause I love penguin birds. Fiddletriks, your video will join the others in the final vote, well done.

Hmm, not sure why! I used copyrighted music but it said I could use it if I allowed it to use advertising on the video. Could depend on that and where you live maybe..?
You've got it spot on though with the tricks... I only do the videos as an extra and because I enjoy making them haha

I actually tried lunar knee bounce lunar but it was exhausting. Enjoy!

I have a combo in mind, I'm not consistent in the first trick, the rest I haven't even tried properly. Except one small bit. Plus, I've been battling some cold ever since the last day of the EKO. This has "FUN" written all over it :D 8)
Cool bounce,

I grinded another half hour or so this evening and got it, but it was very unclear. I was going to keep it as a backup, but then I kept grinding for another 15 minutes until I got it again properly (although terrible lightning)
http://youtu.be/7f6MYXqimZc
I hope my variation of "Moon base beta" is considered a proper lunar.
Edit: My vote goes to mreasyguy for the completely unnecessary no-looking but really cool jank.
@shalafi, although I like the combo I'm afraid I'm unable to accept it becaue of the rule "*No hand/finger touching ken when catching/in balance". Although you're not really "catching" it (my poor choice of word) you have your finger on the base cup to get into the lunar. Therefore I have to decline.
Is it possible without the little finger in contact with the ken?

Tbh I haven't done any in a while, I like go up with the beval facing away from me completely, trade at highest point, so you have max time to do late kenflip. Imagine it being the late one on whirlie late whirlie haha Hope it helps

I have no idea how stodd did trade dub kenflip bird for kwc 2014 (I think)
Edit: https://youtu.be/650YVfFMQj0
Kris Bosch doing trade triple hahaha he starts flipping the Ken as the tama is still going up
It's at like 1:21 and in slow mo too [emoji869]
Instagram: @cruizerd4ft
It's the positioning of the hole I'm not sure of, I think I tend to land it more when the hole is directly below and the tama does a full rotation. Stodd and Bosch aren't human.
Anyway, better stay on topic. If anyone wants to do a trade tripple like Bosch, feel free.

@Jak I just havent had the time to put into this one this week. Great competition idead though and had some fun grinding out the combos.
I really wanted to put a kenflip before the swap on a spacewalk but just cant get the timing and as with my juggle game I just cant seem to let go of the ken once Ive grabbed it the second time. Had better luck with reverse spacewalk to swirl to kenflip big cup but as I said just had no time to gringd this week.

How exactly will the final "best trick" round work,
@Jak ? Will it be simply a list of all the specific individual tricks that won a vote, and we vote for the overall best one out of those? Or is there more to it?
Hi sorry I didn't vote the last round I uploaded and submitted the video while I was still on the rock, it was about a 394ft climb to the top and that was the actual top of the roaches in the Peak District. 4g was terrible and my phone was just about to die

Now, back to grinding Round 6.
Oh good. I feel like round 7 has been my worst round in terms of building up the difficulty. It was actually 'stilt' I took out and now think I should have probably left it in, I just had a little panic last minute. But next week will be nice and hard don't worry ;-)

@The Void,
@jakub.zahumensky,
@Maicodama,
@DarrenTheJew,
@shalafi In order to keep things fair there's a new rule. Any clip posted will no longer be accepted until AFTER their vote.
That's not to pick on anyone who hasn't voted in the past, sometimes there are some understandable reasons for that, but the game will simply not be fair otherwise, for you and the prize givers.
Also, we all have different ideas as to what lighting is adequate.
@fiddletriks, you know I'm mostly talking about you here mate, haha. It's going to have to be better than your last lighting set up. Although I believe I can see the tricks, in all fairness to the other players I could miss something in light like that. We also have the potential to make a compilation of some of the videos in this comp, and low lighting clips will just stand out and bring down the overall quality of the video.
Thanks everyone who has been part of this comp and everyone that's still in. There's still a lot of Round 7 clips to come in - don't leave it to the last minute. :)
Thanks guys.
P.S.
@The Void, you added so much more than my two set tricks; that's what I like to see! Accepted! A vote for maico.
@Jak The Stilt was just for you. :-)
Haha when I saw it I definitely wondered why I'd taken it out! D'oh!

Argh, havent had chance to film the Round 8 video yet! Anyone else had any luck with Round 7??? :)
My somersaults and kenflips are getting better, but I'm not there yet
New rule that just occurred to me; if only one player posts a video in a round, second place will go to the person that posted first in the previous round. Will add this to the main rules post. This won't apply to this round as more than one has posted, however it could happen soon so get your posts in early!

I really don't want to do spacewalks indoors, and yesterday was horrible weather. Today looks better.
And there also the kids, not much time to practice.
I'm actually happy on the improvement on my somersaults.
Can't believe I missed the last spike, I kept trying for another 30 minutes but didn't came close again, and I don't feel like trying again.
The trick is slightly out of frame, so maybe it's better that I didn't hit it to get it rejected for that.

A fault on my part. I wasn't aware, and it's the bird hop to opposite bird I was looking for.
Your R8 entry accepted,

P.S good use of a video light.
In my rush to be the first to post a video, I could have phrased that better. Didn't mean to imply that Jakub had done anything wrong within the competition, just that it didn't float my aesthetic boat.
And, sorry,
@Jak , but if it makes you feel better, I had to bail on the harder version that I wanted to do. I guess that's the trade-off between rushing to post first, and trying to earn a vote with an ossumcoptrroflgnarl combo. :-)

Oh good. I feel like round 7 has been my worst round in terms of building up the difficulty. It was actually 'stilt' I took out and now think I should have probably left it in, I just had a little panic last minute. But next week will be nice and hard don't worry ;-)
One of the combos I had in mind was actually: stilts then in, double j-stick and then get over the valley somehow :D But with the time and low energy levels pressing hard on me, I opted to go as easy as possible... ;D

Through to Round 9 are...
@fiddletriks,
@The Void,

@Maicodamahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD4tZsaKZN4
Round 9 Rules:UFO*A 'jumping stick' on a horizontal axis
*Remain in a tama grip for the catch
*Approx 25° leeway each way (referee discretion)
*One or more rotations accepted
*Either direction of rotation accepted
Stilt*No hand/finger to touch ken when in stilt
*Any entry, any exit allowed
*Insta stilt accepted, if very controlled (referee discretion)
*'No-hole stilt' accepted, if controlled (referee discretion)
Inward Whirlwind*Release and catch spiked, in a 'ken grip'
*Inward rotation only (base cup comes towards you)
*One or more rotation accepted
*Tama can rotate (or not) any amount of times.
NOTE: A low angle (like my example video) makes it harder to spot the tricks being performed correctly. I advise a higher camera angle (eye-line or above) to help see horizontal rotations of UFO, and a clean catch of stilt. Please also film in good light. I may have to decline a combo if I can't see the tricks clearly enough and suspect foul play.

@MaicodamaHere's the Round 10 video. Please bear in mind the rules for 'stunt plane' which allows tricks like 'fast hand spike' to be performed. Here's 3 tricks which need different grips, so seeing how you get from one to the other will be interesting. So far I've kept it to an average of 3 tricks each round but, if this round doesn't get anyone out, be prepared for an increase of tricks (and difficulty) in the next few rounds! I think we might have to step this up a bit more to get a winner. Thanks, and good luck.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_GgwaqfuXM
Round 10 Rules:Stunt Plane
*While in a tama grip, place hole down onto spike
*Tama must be placed on spike while ken is near to vertical (spike pointing to sky), referee discretion
*Fast hand spike accepted
Butterfly
*Holding middle of string, tama and ken spin in opposite directions at the same time
*At least one full rotation of ken and tama
*Any entry / exit accepted
Handle stall
*Tama is balanced with the hole on the base cup ring (not slip grip)
*No finger to touch tama when caught/in balance
*Any grip of ken accepted
*No "instas"

Ah, ok. I was going for a 90 degree difference, I have to try again.
There will be plenty of poi tutorials online I imagine, or I can create one this week if anyone needs it. Saying that, it's a trick that requires more of a feel for through practise rather than being able to pick it up instantly from a tutorial.

@Maicodama. Just a little more flowy and you also managed to add a few extra tricks in there too which is always good. As you came second in last week's vote, this week's win is even more well deserved. Well done Maico.

@jakub.zahumensky,
@MaicodamaHere's the Round 11 video. I've had not much luck knocking many people out of the comp the last few rounds so hopefully, with these 4 tricks, I'll have a bit more success! ;P
P.S. Thanks for bearing with me calling tricks by probably less commonly used names. I had no idea what this weeks 'trapeze' trick was actually called (I got the name 'trapeze' from diabolo tricks), but found out 30 seconds ago its also referred to as Flying V. Well, whatever! This is why i do example videos, haha :)
https://youtu.be/chUawpnmkvE
Round 11 Rules:Double Kenflip* Ken has to flip twice in the air (no more/less)
* Tama can't be touched while ken is flipping
(Juggles don't count ...whirlwinds, late flips etc. do)
* Any direction of rotation accepted
* Release from any trick (with a ken grip), catch in any trick (with a ken grip), but rules above apply.
Trapeze ('Flying V')* Underside of sarado is caught on the string
* Two-handed trapezes only (tama in one hand, string in the other)
* Any entry / exit accepted
Turntable * Ken spins on finger positioned in a cup
* Big cup / small cup finger placement only
* Minimum of 1 full rotation
* Clockwise, anti-clockwise or a 'vertical' turntable accepted
* Bat and other stall turntables accepted, but consider rules above.
Tap/cushion* Hit part of the ken with tama to cause a rotation (Tap)
OR...
* Hit part of the ken with tama to stop a rotation (Cushion)
* Any area of the kendama sword can be tapped (including spike), or the cup rings
(No inside of cup can be tapped – that would be classed as an 'insta' and not a tap)
* Any type of rotation from tap accepted, but must be clear.

Was hoping to beat Void to the punch this round, got a nice little line in under 15 minutes and then while cutting I realized I'd only done a simple kenflip. Well, tomorrow is also a day, as we say back home ;)
Oh no, and did you think you'd hit the double flip or did you just forget to go for double? Either way, that's a bit frustrating. I wonder if Void is trying to film something right now...
I thought it was a double until I saw it on video... but it turned out to be just a very quick single... will need to practice them. But yeah, I know it can be difficult to judge what "other people" will find to be tricky or not. No worries, you'll get us sooner or later! :D
Man, I almost drowned in my own sweat for this one... But, here we go at last.

I had a really tough time figuring out whether to vote for Fiddletricks or Maico this round, but after watching the videos side about 10 times by side and trick by trick, scribbling on half a paper, assigning plus and minus points and flipping a ten pence coin that just turned out in my room out of nowhere (thanks Lizzie...) I have made my decision. :)
Oh, you want me to say it?
Should I say it now?
OK...
My vote goes to the poor bloke from the Philippines that cannot afford to buy shoes (which had nothing to do with my decision) and has to play barefoot in his yard - MAICO! :)
Super smooth Jakub, accepted!
Sympathy vote for shoeless Maico. Thanks
Thanks Jak. Haha, the shoes had nothing to do with my decision - I wanted to mention that, then forgot... i'll edit my post to make it clear :)
Haha!
Maybe he needs some flip flops like yours? I can barely walk in flip flops though, never mind kendama!
Yeah, he should mention them in his letter to Santa this year. Oh, and I need a new pair as well :D Maybe add some as a prize for the competition? :D
Lace sooo much harder with bare feet.

Well, play from the couch then ;) JK, get well soon, Mr Void!
Oh no
@The Void! If you're not able to race for the first entry position then there's no harm in being the last to post, so make sure to rest for the next few days so you can recover quickly!
Speaking of last entries;
Round 12 is ready to go.
@Maicodama, you around dude? Less than 24 hours left!...
I finally have to bail. Best of luck to everyone still in. Go for gold [emoji1417][emoji4]

So, with the majority votes, Maico has his third trick in the final's list! Well done
@Maicodama!
Sadly, however we're saying bye to him this round as he didn't get an entry in before deadline, so now we're left with three...
Round 12@fiddletriks,

it's still insane, though... and far above impossible for me to combine without "resets", which would mean going into the wingwalker from what? From the front mooncrcle directly? That will be the day, haha :D KRAZY
Quote from: The Void on 02 October, 2016, 21:42:47Ah, so the Moon Circle dosn't have to be Spiked then? Okay, that makes it less nuts...
That's right , all you have to do is catch the ken after the rotation and you've got it, what you do from there is up to you. I think moon circle insta spike will be more of a round 20 trick, and Jakub, moon circle insta wing would be round 50 haha
Oh, I didn't mean insta, that would be like level out of this galaxy or something... will give this a try anyway, surprised myself to see what I can get.
You've got this!
This round is quite nuts indeed, and
@fiddletriks already got it... insane!
Yes,
@jakub.zahumensky you should go for the wing straight from the mooncircle, obviously :-)

Okay, gotcha. Cheers. My back's still hurting, but on the mend. Will start having a go on Tuesday, maybe.
Tried kendama today. Managed 5 minutes, and 2/4 of the sequence, before my back said "No!". Well, it's a start...
It is a start,
@The Void. Hope you've not aggravated your back further though! How are you finding the tricks this round? The ones you managed to try.
@jakub.zahumensky, how are you getting on?
If you managed half the tricks in 5mins, as a guess, you found those to be okay. So I should have really asked, what are your thoughts on the ones you didn't get?
Quote from: Jak on 05 October, 2016, 22:23:38
@jakub.zahumensky, how are you getting on?
Well, my lunar flips got better yesterday, since I was able to play a bit while doing some experiments at work. Unfortunately, my lunar kendama is totally useless for wingwalkers, as it's practically brand new... I am consistent in none of those tricks. I have been practicing only the wingwalker before, to be honest, and I don't even know how to put the tricks together into a line... Well, I have put 2 of them together, but am struggling with the rest at the present moment. Oh, and it's cold outside and raining a lot and I am drying chili peppers in my room - great for practicing throws, I tell ya :D
@Jak Well, I'm pretty solid on Wingwalkers, and the Moon Circle is easy if you can bail out to a cup, or whatever. ;) My Lunar Somersaults aren't so great, and I did my ?first? Penguin JStick today, so that'll need some practice or luck. But, as
@jakub.zahumensky , I'm not quite sure yet what my full combo will be.
My back's still getting better, thanks. I'll try again tomorrow.

It's the very last bit in the video, just before the spike enters the tama ;) There's at least 90 degree back rotation after I tap it. But yeah, the light is suboptimal in the video...
Anyway, I am massively struggling with lunar flips right now, even with my lunar dama which is now alright for wingwalkers after a bit of use (and, admittedly, misuse... :D)... got only twice past that then got dissed by the string once and second time the j-stick ended in a stilts. Just too bad it didn't stay there, I would have pretended it were on purpose and went on with another j-stick :D

Cheers Jak. Cheers, shalafi, still on the mend, but yes, walking without a cane now, although still rather creaky when sitting down and standing up! My hand seems to go on to my knee more and more often these days.... :-)
not happy... just out of a straight lunar flip practice (place ken to lunar, attempt the flip) - went for a 100 and it took me bloody 80 minutes. That's not good enough... tops I had was 4 in a row just towards the end and before three in a row about 3 or 4 times... Crazy that I seem to be more consistent with the wingwalkers...
Well, anyway, I am done for today... gonna take a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong shower now and then head off back to Narnia.. just too bad there's no bathtub in the house, I really feel like soaking just now...

What I've got is a piece of dark chocolate with lavender. What I WILL have tomorrow is sore thighs, that's what I'll have :D Hardest round for me by far this one, for sure.
You know when planning the tricks I try to take into account the styles of the players and work out which tricks will challenge all of them as fairly as possible, but to be honest I didn't expect you to have such difficulty with the lunar flip! So, with the majority votes,
@The Void is in the finals list (again) with his Round 11 submission! Nice one, Void!
Round 13Through to Round 13 are;
@fiddletriks,
@The Void and
@jakub.zahumenskyApologies again for my rubbish knowledge of trick names - typical of me to think of, and referee, a game that relies on them! It's mostly trick Number 2 on the list I'm referring to. The more technical names with trades/swaps etc. confuse me, but please watch the video and read the Round Rules to make sure you know what I'm asking for. If not, just ask, as usual. ;D
I haven't had a lot of free time this week to play much kendama, so when I filmed these 5 tricks I had a bit of fun with them...hopefully they're still clear enough for you guys.
Good luck.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaMLL0IYveA
Round 13 Rules:Scooping Goldfish*With tama placed on floor, pick it up using any of the cups with a 'scooping' motion
*No fingers/hand to touch the tama during scoop
*Can be performed anywhere in the combo, but tama must be placed on the floor intentionally
Sara Grip Swap Jumping Stick ([from loaded sara grip] Swap/Trade Jumping Stick) *From Sara grip with a spiked tama, throw the ken to rotate fully while swapping to tama grip, catch in spike
*One or more rotations accepted.
*Rotation can be on any axis
Sweets Special*With string 'locked' around spike, and tama on big/little cup, the kendama rotates around finger
*Two rotations minimum
*Any direction of rotation accepted
*Any exit accepted
Downspike Earth Turn (Stabbed Earth Turn)*In Sara grip, release tama (while tama is below ken) to do a rotation, catch in spike by stabbing down from above
*Must be spiked from above (referee discretion)
*Any amount of rotation accepted
*Any direction of rotation accepted (on vertical axis)
Hand Roll*The kendama string swings over and onto the top of your hand and around to create a rotation
*String needs to be in contact with hand for majority of rotation
*Kendama can be released from either ken or tama,
(or neither and can be caught on the string from a spacewalk, for example)
*Any exit accepted

I'd say significantly easier than previous round, even with the extra trick.
Loving this competition :-)
You're probably right
@shalafi. I have a long list of tricks and I wanted to use up the ones I haven't requested before up-levelling previous tricks :)
#2: Does the JStick have to be begun when the ball is on the spike? (i.e. Could the ball be just hanging down?)
#3: "Any exit" means no spike is necessary, right? To cup would be okay?
Quote from: Jak on 09 October, 2016, 21:08:34

It is hard to judge what's difficult and what's not. It depends a lot on each player's style.
#2 Yep, sorry, in spike. I originally named the trick down spike trade to jumping stick, but i removed it because performing a 'down spike' is not necessary, but yes start with a spiked tama. Thanks for clarifying.
#3 Yep :)
Okay, thanks.
So then I think I'd call it "[from loaded sara grip] Swap/Trade Jumping Stick". Bit of a mouthful, but there you go.
And "Must be spiked from above", therefore it's Stabbed Earth Turn. That's what a Stab is.
Well, let's see how these 5 think they'll fit together.... Tomorrow. :)
Thanks for the trick name clarification, if only you weren't part of the competition I'd be asking you beforehand! haha

And thank you for the votes and the support during the last round, guys! :)
I could have gone easy on myself this round, but with me being me and all, I haven't. Took much longer than expected and not as clean as I would wish, but here it is. Also I had LOTS of fun doing this, but I had to film it, as I kept adding stuff to it :D

I vote for Void, as I had to watch his transition from penguin j-stick to reg tama grip about 4 times before my brain was able to process it. And seeing it inevitably lead to the transition that I used (in the opposite direction).
Right, now I can go have lunch and then I'll watch what the rest came up with ;)

Oh, aye, just need to put some finishing touches on them and up they go for sale ;)
Great line
@jakub.zahumensky , accepted!
A vote for Void too!
@Jak any chance of the new round tonight instead? :D
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, normally I'd have agreed to doing that if the other players were okay with it, however for the first time in this comp I'm not filmed and ready to go a day early. I have a bit of free time in the morning I hope to get it all done, if so would you guys like me to post earlier tomorrow? Let's say any time after 2pm (bst), what you say
@The Void,
@jakub.zahumensky,
@fiddletriks?
Fine by me.
I'm cool with that, what time is that in Jakubs country? @Jak

An hour ahead of us I think
Yeah, it's an hour difference. I don't have any problem with getting the assignment early.
Round 14 should be up at 2pm!

Round 14Through to Round 14 are;
@fiddletriks,
@The Void and
@jakub.zahumenskyI've been thinking harder about the tricks to post this round and think I have stepped things up a bit after last week's blip of an 'easier' round. There's definitely one trick in here I know some of you may hate me for adding, but see what you can do.

You got it Ewan! Accepted!
A vote for Jakub, cheers!
Wooo, stilt trade stab, nice one
Damn, Jack, are you trying to kill us? :D I still can't walk properly from yesterday's sesh, my hamstrings are RUINED :D Never tried the lunar rover before, this will be interesting... the stilt to stab is nice, the inward LH flip not so much :D
Thank you for the vote,
@fiddletriks ! :)
Oof. Given it a good shot. It's tough. Going to take a lot of tries for me.
Bloody hell, Ewan! Well done.
Haha thanks @TheVoid I only just got 180/almost360 rovers pretty recently haha
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a love/hate relationship with 360 rovers. Love landing them, hate the struggle of landing them. Haha. Got my first for the Outlink comp. There's a big difference in difficulty between 180 rover and the 360, hence why you have to do just 180, haha. I tried to be kind(ish).
I'm just trying to plan the next round, I have a few ideas I'm toying with!
How are you guys getting on?
I found a great tutorial for the lunar rover yesterday - from Cooper Eddy. But I haven't had time to actually start practicing it yet... Hopefully tomorrow.
I've managed 2 half-rovers in total so far, just. In lots of attempts. How many more goes I give it will depend on the concatention of time/daylight/good weather/inclination/back-willingness in the next few days. We'll see....
Void, have a look at this if you haven't already: http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1303.msg27205.html#msg27205
Cooper gives a very detailed explanation on how to do the lunar. Might help. :) Hope that Jupiter is in the right position relative to Mars for you as well ;)
Cooper's tutorial is great, wish I'd seen this earlier. I've been doing it wrong lol.
Oooof. So, one last go tomorrow then....
On the stilt downspike, is there any rotation of the tama allowed?
Yeah, tama can rotate, as long as it's still a 'down' spike. For example, the tama can do a full rotation so the hole comes close to being directly above again for spiking. I'll give maybe a little more than 45 degree leeway from the tama's hole being directly on top.
OK, thanks :) I seem to be getting the hang of the (half)rovers, but there are other tricks as well that would need a LOT of practice, like the inward LH flip, stilts and the downspike from stilts... heh... But my j-sticks and earth turns are pretty solid :D LOL
Not much time and energy this week... I need to run now, I will have maybe 1-2 hours before the deadline after I get home tonight. Not sure about strength, though...
C'mon @jakub.zahumensky @TheVoid

Okay, so I'm out of time/space/light/windlessness/knees. Here's my best shot:
http://juggling.tv/16136
I got to the same place 3 or four times, with various degree of Rove/inelegance/visibility. Well played,
@fiddletriks , and good luck
@jakub.zahumensky in the time you have left. (Also, thanks for posting the tutorial - and thanks Cooper for making it. The "index finger" tip helped a bit.)
Thanks
@Jak for running the comp, and the challenge this round especially. Still can't believe Ewan got it in <45 mins!
Void out!
Ohhh Void, one trick away!
You nearly did a full spin yourself getting that rover, haha, but whatever works!
Thanks for taking part, results/next round announced in just over an hour and a half!
right, finally gotten around to it... let's see what I can do in the last 25 minutes :D
About 3 minutes to go...
We have a winner!Before that's announced, in
third place...
@jakub.zahumensky.
Jakub has shown great creativity, skill and massive determination, especially with many of the recent rounds. Although you just miss out on a prize, Jakub, you still have a possibility of winning the SuLab kendama in the Best Combo competition! Good luck, dude!
In
second place...
@The VoidReally well done, Void. It's no secret Void is great at organising events and competitions but also great at competing in them too! (Although, that was actually no secret to most of us either!) Your prize will be decided after the winner has chosen his! Thanks for taking part, helping me clarify the rules and also being a support in getting this going!
So, the
winner!
Massive congratulations to...
@fiddletriks!
Ewan is the Stamp It: Stomp It 2016 Champion! Well done, dude!
A really well deserved win; demonstrating real versatility and creativity in your combos. Not to mention, often being one of the first to post their entries AND the only person from the later competitors who did not have a late entry! Really well done, Ewan! Choose your prize (the Kendama Co Orca Girr kendama or the £15) and we'll try sort getting it to you as soon as poss! :D
Oh, and seeing as you were the only poster in Round 14, your video automatically gets into the finals list. Extra win!
We're nearly done now. Nearly!
The SISI Best Combo Award! To win The SuLab kendama, there will be one final vote. I have decided, to incorporate as many people as possible so any member of the forum can vote so those who did compete, spread the word! Share it on social media, tell your friends, whatever! As long as they sign up to the forum they're eligible!
Please vote via the poll.
The link to the poll is... http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2912.0.html
Thanks again, guys!
And congratulations again to
@fiddletriks and
@The Void!
Congrats to the winners, the organizer and essentially to everyone that participated.
It's been a refreshing comp, and it has worked really well. Good job!
Congratulations
@fiddletriks for winning the competition, really great job! And also congratulations to Void for taking the second place.
And Thank you Jak for putting this competition together, it was really fun to try and think of ways in and out of the tricks and putting them together and sometimes overdoing it along the way - like in my first round :D I've also picked up some new tricks on the way, so that is great as well!
Thanks @Jak for hosting this comp! Keeps everyone on their toes every week! The £15 will be going toward my white premium ozora I think :) I'll Dm you my contact info
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good choice Ewan! That means The Void wins the Ken Co Girr, I'll try and sort those prizes out for you both as soon as I can!
Ive posted the link to the poll in the winner's announcement, but here it is again (hopefully this works)...
http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2912.0.html
And why not post the video of your favourite tricks from each round here too...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpMPS4g-kuI
Feel free to share to get people on-board with the voting. Good luck everyone!
Wheee, second place![nb]...because I completed Round 13 before Jakub, not because I posted a partial run of Round 14. In case anyone was wondering.[/nb] A prize!
Thanks again Jak, and cheers for the hype. Thanks
@ltdama for donating the prize I've won. Thanks for the midweek pep-talk, Jakub: I was on the verge of giving up. (Although as it turns out, it would have made no difference if I had.) Well played, again, Ewan, and thanks for running me so close, Jakub.
Phew, a day off kendama tomorrow!
Come on guys, get on the other thread (this one... http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2912.0.html) and vote!
P. S. The poll is not visible in Tapatalk, so click on Web View or Open In Browser

Thanks Jakub!
C'mon guys! So many entered the competition, but only a handful have voted so far. Get to it, it only takes 8 minutes of your time! :)
By the way Jack, can you tell us what the next round was going to be? :) Just curious...
Voted!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Only just spotted your question
@jakub.zahumensky, sorry! I can't actually remember all the tricks that would have been in the next round now without checking my files. Erm... Lunar barrel roll was one...spike juggle spike was another?... and some more nasty stuff, haha. I didnt actually do a round video for Round 15, I just had YouTube tutorials on standby for the tricks if there was a last minute entry of Round 14 to make the game continue :P
The 'best combo' winner will be announced shortly, right here!
That's some really nasty stuff! :)
The winner of the Best ComboThe winner is...
....
@jakub.zahumensky Well done, dude! With 33.3% of the votes, your Round 13 entry was voted the Best Combo! ;D
https://youtu.be/WTIomUQGRIA
Really well deserved as that line was super creative, flowy and had so many elements. Well done again Jakub!
You may have just missed out on winning a prize in the main competition but now you have just won a Beech Su Lab kendama kindly donated by
@BKA!
We'll arrange getting that to you shortly! :D
Thanks everyone that was in some way involved with Stamp It Stomp It. You guys are awesome!
That's it for this year. I have ideas for future competitions but I think I need a good break for now.
Thanks, again!
8) 8) 8)
Thanks once again for organising it all, Jak. Lots of work beehind the scenes. I think I like the element of freedom in the format better than Outlink.
Whooooooo, so awesome!!! :) A big THANK YOU to everyone who voted! And to the BKA for donating the SU Lab. I really like the ash SU Lab I won earlier this year (even though the basecup chipped :'( :'() so I'm sure I'm gonna love this one as well!
I'd say that of all my entries this one was my favourite, as I guess I had the most fun filming it - btw. 3 t-shirts were sweated through in the filming process, the last one so completely it took 2 days to dry out! :D And it took me about 3 hours to actually land the combo. But it was great fun! (as was this whole competition, as already stated before :))
So once again thank you Jack for making this competition and also everyone who participated :)
Haha Jakub, definitely deserve a prize for the blood, sweat and tears going into that line then (mostly the sweat!). Congrats again!
Void, you're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah it was a heck of a lot behind the scenes, not all of it completely necessary to the competition, I put a lot of time into the videos but I enjoyed doing them so that was fine! It was just finding the time which was sometimes tricky. The Word document I prepared the round rules on and kept track of the entries has well exceeded 25 pages! I probably could have been much more efficient though haha.
Well done Jakub! Can't wait to see you in Prague
