The only painted kens ive ever liked were the white one and the seafoam/mint green ones from sweets.

Yikes. In my opinion the aesthetics of a kendama should be organic and elegant. Wood grain and soothing colors. I like the way stained kens look, but only natural tones.

I can see how the styling of those Death Ray kendamas could appeal to the "Visual Kei" scene in Japan. Perhaps thats the market they are after?

@br   i admit it looks nice....but i would much rather use wood that naturally has that color. I think once i got into exotic woods, i started to appreciate the idea of pure natural wood, rather than enhanced.

and @jamesFM  That is actually a pretty valid point. you could very well be right about this one....i wonder ???
