The European Kendama Open 2016 will be held at the EJC (http://www.ejc2016.org/) in the Netherlands.
Please read all details here: http://kendama.co.uk/eko (http://kendama.co.uk/eko)
We're looking forwards to seeing you all there. FB event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1694102214206102/) to add yourselves as "Going" or "Maybe".
Please ask questions below!
Q: Where do we stay?
A: The cheapest option is to camp at the EJC (camping is included in the EJC ticket price - but you must bring your own tent). If you want to stay at a hotel, then please find one in Amsterdam (25 mins by train from EJC) or Almere (7 mins by train from EJC).
Q: How much are EJC tickets?
A: Ticket prices have been announced at http://www.ejc2016.org/tickets/ (http://www.ejc2016.org/tickets/) Pre-registration prices are cheaper, so we recommend you pre-register. A full week ticket is better value than day tickets.
Q: How do we get there?
A: Please see the EJC website (http://www.ejc2016.org/) for travel information.
Q. Can I use [this kendama]?
i. Any competition-size model is allowed for the Dan Jam.
ii. Any model and size of kendama is allowed for 7 To Spike, but judges will be mindfull that larger/stickier/modified kendamas may be easier to use. They will judge with this in mind.
iii. For Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced/Pro, you must use a JKA/BKA approved kendama: Please read all of http://kendama.co.uk/approved.html carefully. Matt Nix will be the kendama inspector at the E.K.O. If you are uncertain, please see Matt and show him your kendama in person. Matt may use his discretion with respect to markings and wear, but Matt's decision is final.
Q. Where do we meet for the Amsterdam trips?
A.
Monday 1st:
- Meeting point 1: 12:00-12:30, by the big gym in the EJC. - We will then take a train to Amterdam Central, and walk to...
- Meeting point 2: ~13:00-13:45 Leidseplein. - Grab lunch, gather, and then we will wander... to Vondelpark, maybe? The rest of the day will be freeform!
Thursday 4th:
- Meeting point 1: 13:00-13:30, by the big gym in the EJC. - We will then take a train to Amterdam Central, and walk to...
- Meeting point 2: 14:00-14:45, Jugglestore! (Staalstraat 3b). The rest of the day will be freeform!

Interesting, getting back into the EJC.
I hope to have time to go, even if it means going with all the family and having little kids around all the time.
As a side note, during the trip to Amsterdam, don't forget to pay a visit to the Juggle Store (a.k.a SunRise) to see one of those few shops that are filled with kendamas (sort of like the Krom shop in EKO 2014)
I am sure you have lots of ideas for spending a day in Amsterdam, but just in case, I used to live there ;-)
Nice! Always wanted to go to an EJC, so this is perfect!
See you there!
-oh and what's going on with BKO?-
YES YES just YES :) :o
Looks Great!
Will we stay all the Time at the EJC (except for the Trips we Do of course)?
And Do we Need a Hotel or can wie Camp there all the Time? :))
Thanks :)

I was hoping that it would be in Almere! I guess details are still being finalized, but is there an idea for which day it will be yet? Since I don't know if I will be able to do an entire EJC, but I would like to drive up for the EKO.
Also a good occasion to get my Dan training started up again.

Silly me...
Guess I'll start planning that vacation then :)
Good shout on the EJC BKA, and also a double whammy with it being very near an interesting city to get a good fill of tourism (for anyone who is into that kind of thing). Dates are in the diary!

Good to hear. Maybe some local knowledge on where is a good place for a bunch of clickers to hang out and jam in Amsterdam,
@s070s ?
unfortunately i'm not the correct person for this job.
i don't know amsterdam that well. maby less than the average tourist.
but your right .. a dutchie should look into what to do in A'dam.
first thing that comes to mind is the ´jugglestore´ and a nice square with grass (forgot the name)
I'll go and ask arround ...oke ... (i can do that ;-) )

I'd suggest Vondelpark, for a more hippy place or Leidseplein for a more street performance place.
I think the nice square with grass you mention is Rembrandtplein

There's a huge green area where the dude is showing us how to get on the bike. Seems great for jamming, unless it's too windy over there. Speaking of wind, is there a kendama trick call windmill?
Windmill: http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,97.msg23778.html#msg23778 (http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,97.msg23778.html#msg23778)
That's Musseumplein, where the letters of I Amsterdam are.
Windmills there are about 6 in the city, my favorite being near Sloterpark.
I should put some pins on the map for you.
there is also 'Olympiaplein' on the 'stationsweg'
with is a big open outdoor skatepark with lots of room to play dama
and shops in the neighborhood

Very cool tricks, I like them, I may be a very weird player because I find some of the finals to be easier than others on the first rounds.
For reverse slip-on-stick. Is it allowed to use the modified sara grip (as for moshi-kame) ?
Also, happy to see one trick from the IKO making it into the EKO :)
If you mean fingers in small cup, yes.

Yes, that's what I meant. Good, because that how I always did that trick :)
when doing "23. Moon Base Beta" ..
can you "regrip" the tama before the final "in" ?
it seems like the hole was pointing upwards in the video, but it should be somewhere downwards, as the tama was bound to the cup.. ;D
maybe i got something wrong :)
what have you guys clicked on for the Show at EJC ? :D

Grip once. Work your angles. Move your hand, not your grip.

As long as you got the confirmation email with the reference number, you should be okay.

@Jokbert - yes, they said they were experiencing technical problems and that no one had received their tickets yet. They also said that as long as your money left your bank (and all the details were correct), it should be alright. So I guess what BKA said should work.
So it's official, Janne and I will be there! Just booked an AirBNB in Almere and we will be there for the first visit to Amsterdam on the 1st and on competition day!
Now, back to practice!
Hi Guys!
I'm in :D
I've one question.
All kinds of Ozora are approved?
Premium - Black street - Monkey
Thanks in advance :)
@Doppia_D89 Hi. Yes, All Ozoras. Great, see you there!
Just received the e-ticket. Got the bus tickets ready, now all I need to do is start practicing :D Hooray. Will be there for all of the EJC, looking forward to meeting everyone again and seeing some new faces. Also, I need a local guide to Amsterdam, so I don't get hustled like some lame tourist...
@s070s @JeffreyItaliaander @Lionel Graaf @joris.schweppe - I am counting on you, guys ;)
recieved my ticket too

Festivalcampsite
There is a festivalcampsite next to the festival village for tents and one specifically for caravans and camper vans. The cost for sleeping on the festivalcampsite is included in the festivalticket. The soil on the campsite is mostly sand, so don't forget to bring pegs suitable for sand! There are no trees on the campsite. Please make sure to stay within the indicated area. It is advisable to keep any valuables with you at all times. The cost for the campsite is included in the price of your festivalticket.

https://instagram.com/p/BIqANcRBJhx/
Looks great! Congrats to Rob, hope you're all having a fine time!
Rob did a great job, thoroughly deserved! I was gutted to go out of the pro devision by missing a big cup in the clockwise trick... those stage nerves certainly get to me! But overall, I'm very happy with how I did.
The tourism of the city certainly added to the diversity of the trip, Amsterdam is a charming, intriguing, funny, down to earth, yet incredibly bizarre place.
Thanks to everyone for the fun clicks in the rain, those who thrashed me in ken/krom battles, tasty beer, David Sunrise for my first yoyo purchase, Artur for his patience lacing a doubles trick with me, and of course, The Void for being a great host as always.
Despite out best intentions to re-meet the group thursday evening after the juggle shop, Luke and I got sidetracked late afternoon by bumping into long lost friends in Amsterdam, so we didn't get to say our goodbyes face to face...we are really sorry! :'(
So, from both of us: we had a great time! Goodbye until the next one!
