I just started trying out this trick and am having trouble, does anyone have any advice? I mess up on the whole finger wrapping part when I have to "throw" the ken and catch the tama.

If you are trying a single swirl try these tips:

Step 1) learn a half swirl

Step 2) try small variations - get really good at them
Get really good at these, try them fast, try them slow. Do them on both sides!
Step 3) attempt the swirl!
Step 4) if you are still failing try these:
- give it a firmer more powerfull push when releasing the ken/tama
- when you are in the swirl use your free hand and place it behind you back or tap your head etc.
- keep your eye on the item that you are catching - more important with the swirl than the half
- watch videoes of the trick, get a feel of how it should look - Swirls - juggling videos hosted @ Juggling.tv

If you are still failing at the swirl - stop!. Practice the trick once or twice a practice.
GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN LEARN IT!
it is a very hard trick to learn!
