Hi,
I will be editing this year's forum collaboration video[nb]Number of other volunteers: Zero[/nb].
I invite any and all forum members to submit video clips for inclusion.
RULES
1. You must be a forum member here. (It's free to join, and everyone is welcome to join (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=register).)
2. Any skill level is welcome....
3. ... but, HD preferred, and minimum resolution of 640x360 please. (Sorry, but it's 2014, y'know.) If you really don't have a device that can shoot that, well, I bet you have a friend who does.
4. Film in Landscape ▃, not Portrait ▋, not Square ▉.
5. Please try to keep the clips fairly short. As a guide, anything over 20 seconds is quite long in a compilation video.
6. Upload your clips to your own hosting, or a site like dropbox/wetransfer/mediafire, etc etc, and send me a forum DM (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=2) with the link. Any file format except WMV please. (If you can really ONLY do WMV, then please upload your file as a *hidden video* to YT ("unlisted"), Vimeo or Juggling.tv (Private), and send me the link, and I will use the highest quality converted file from there.)
7. Please use a filename like: [YourForumUsername]-Collab-1.mp4 . You will be credited in the video with your Forum username. Let me know if you want your real name used as well (in brackets).
8. DON'T talk online about what trick(s) you have submitted, and don't show your clips to anyone else. It will spoil the surprise of the final video. (But you are welcome to add to the hype by saying things like "I've submitted to the collab video, woo! Exciting!", of course, just not about what trick you've submitted.)
9. You can submit more than one clip, but I do not guarantee that I will use more than one clip per person.
10. Multi-person clips are fine too. (Only forum members will be credited.)
11. Submission deadline is 23:59GMT, Saturday May 31st, 2014.
GUIDELINES
- Please don't add any effects/zooms/music to your clips.
- While I will NOT reject any tricks because they are "too easy", I may decide not to use a clip if the video quality is too poor. I want a good looking compilation video! So, take your time to film in good lighting (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44.msg11118.html#msg11118) (Outdoors! Go Outdoors! Outdoors!).
- Have a think about all the things in your clip apart from "the trick". So: the lighting, the scenery, the shot composition, the contrast between your clothing and the kendama/string, your presentation/style, your character in the clip, etc. Something as simple as a smile can make a clip stand out.
BONUS FOR SUBMITTERS!
If one of your clips is included in the final video, you will be entered into a prize draw. Prizes are not yet decidedSee this post for details of the prizes (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1667.msg13906.html#msg13906), but there will be better prizes available for BKA members (http://www.kendama.co.uk/contact.html) than for non-BKA members. :)
You have 3 months! I look forward to seeing what you all come up with. Let's make it a great one this year!
Cheers,
Void
ill give it a go definitely! and also how many clips can we submit?
I don't know which trick I'll do, but there are some nice new graffitis near my house, so I know I'll record it there.

Ive submitted my clips! soooo excited to see the full video!
And we're off! So that's at least 2 of us, Will.... ;)
I will for sure get at least one clip in here, and it wont be in a dark bedroom/living room ;)
Jolly good. On both counts!
I'll try and get something done as well. Next month, I start my field work in the forest, hopefully with a good background as a result.
Also, three months? That means the BKO is included? Maybe we could get an in-the-flesh collaboration on video.
Yep. And yep. :)
hell yea im in!!
I've decided which trick I'm going to do. It is going to be a tough one (for my level) and I also know the background I want.
Let's see if I can make time for that this weekend :)
Another submission received!
One more in the bag. :)
Awesome! I will try and think of something to shoot soon!
Yo void can i send you thal clip form my instAgram? Also got it hd. Or should i film it agaib with a good cam?
I'd like clips that haven't already been online, so that the final video is completely new. So yeah, if you could film something new[nb]Well, the trick can be the same, but the clip should be new.[/nb], that'd be cool. :) Cheers.
Just changed the beginning and end of the combo to something harder/better. Waiting for the sun now. Or maybe next weekend in dublin! :D

I recommend the garden of Dublin's Castle or St Stephens Green for filming :)
Let's have a
BUMP!
I will definitely submit something, but it won't be until all the bloody snow has melted!
A snowy landscape can be really nice scenery! A bit chilly to film in though, fair enough. :)
I'm in!! Should have something tomorrow!
Cool. I'll be travelling for ages though, so don't worry if I don't reply quickly.
Cheers!
Two more folks' clips received. Yip.
+1. :)
You got my clips , void?? :)
Just trying to download them right now. Having some problems, but I think that might be at my end. I'll let you know soon.
Got 'em!
You got mine too?
I think so. My computer's having a bit of a fit right now, but I've definitely received your link, anyway.
Cheers!
Yep, got 'em.
Yusss!! I'm pretty stoked on my trick. Still haven't done it since!

Cool, I hope so too, Jeffrey!

Got a trick in mind, next step find a good cam and film it.

Will we hit 40? Just over 1 day left on the deadline.
Time up!
Well, that's lots of work for me in the next couple of weeks.... I'm looking forwards to it!
Update: I have now decided which format to edit in.
The deinterlace-transcode marathon begins!
You're a very generous man. Despite it dropping on you for the editing as no one else piped up, it is still a very nice thing to do for all those who participated (including me) You could've just put the project on hold until someone volunteered their time, which is very much appreciated :-D
Endless supply of Danish coffee coming your way to say thanks!
I'm really looking forward to seeing this (depending on the editing time, it could have its premier screening in Copenhagen? !)

You sure know how to have a good time!
+1 on the coffee vibes.
Seriously though, nice one for doing this - really looking forward to seeing it.
Cheers guys, I like coffee.
Target is to have it released in June. Anyone coming to Oxford (http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1772.0.html) may get a sneak preview. :)
Update: All clips transconverendered!
Editing has begun.
Working on music[nb]"What's a C90, Grandad?"
"It's one of those new-fangled posh 8-Tracks, lad."[/nb].
Thanks for your work Void!
Update: All editing finished.
Now for an export, and multiple test-watches to check for errors, before heading into compression territory.
Wow, that was real quick. It seems all the coffee made it count :)
