I also notist the same difference between the play of the Sunrise kendama and the Oozora kendama, but for the Competiton and the Dan grading i need to stick with the Oozora because only the JKA approved kendamas are allowed to take exams in the Dan Ranking.

but the main goal of Sunrise was to make solid alround kendamas and it have to be fun, and i think Sunrise made it just like that, and have a very sticky paint and the kens are very durable, like TK 16.

The Striped Sunrise of the picture are just 2 of the new serie, i think there will be more variations, but Yellow with a white stripe i don't know.
just have some patient and see what is coming.

cheers

I think so! As i said before, I think they are perfect for learning tricks and after that improve them in an Oozora (or your favorite JKA brand).

I have just changed from oozora to sunrise and i prefer the sunrises!
I like the lighter feel and find them much easier for balance tricks!
