I spotted Yusuke Ito playing kendama in the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics! How fantastic. I wonder if one day it might be... even a demonstration sport? 😃

That's really cool.
To make an olympic sport we fist would need to come up with a consistent rules for competition. Maybe just freestyle.
