I just saw on the Gloken website that they are selling "Premium White Ozora -Sticky Paint". Anyone have any back story on these? I'm just trying to figure out if I should buy one or not haha.
i saw em too, but their sold out :'(
i want to say they are not 'official' altho i could be wrong.
tbh, i like that kawasaki custom on the gloken site
They are official, and they are Competition approved by the JKA.
Ozora recently made 50 sticky white ozoras with the "recommended" seal not the "Approved" seal (meaning not usable for jka comp) specifically for the Hyper Japan event a while back. Those ones were a "limited run" and the paint was very tacky(too tacky if you ask me)
I am assuming they made them as a test run, to see how people liked the tacky paint.
The ones that ozora is now selling, are the official release.
These ones are "Approved"(competition safe)
Also, like i said...the "limited run" white ozora was too tacky by my standards.
But i am told that the new tacky ones are not quite as tacky.(I have not played with the new)
If so, They should play perfect!
@PikWik If you still need one you can find them here: http://www.goodsfromjapan.com/oozora-kendama-premium-white-p-1613.html (http://www.goodsfromjapan.com/oozora-kendama-premium-white-p-1613.html) ;D
They look so good!
they are good, i have the limited recommended one, and it is not to tacky for me, for me it is just perfect,
Any idea what the difference is between the recommended and competition seal with these Kendamas? The one I bought this morning has the competition seal while Kendalex just got 3 with the recommended seal.
EDIT: This was already answered haha. My bad. Please ignore this.
i am definitely interested. thanks for the link!
kendalex do you know if the paint on them is the exact same as the Approved version?
the Recommended one seemed a little to tacky for me, but i may be a little harsh on my judgment.
dont take my word for it people, get one and try it for yourself.
Everyone has a preference.
I just saw that they are now in stock again on the Gloken website...

Is the white going to be part of the new 2013 colours range (like black, pink)? Since it's in a different package (and price) it looks like it's something different.
Anyways, I vowed to myself that I would buy a white oozora if it ever came out. So mine is ordered and underway.
Goodsfromjapan doesn't mention the 'sticky white'. Don't think that they're different from the GLOKEN ones though...
As soon as someone has a chance to play with one of the 2013 competition white Ozo's, they should totally review it for us kind folk on this forum haha.
Alex Ruisch, said that they play perfect.
tacky but not too tacky.
I may have to grab one.
KendamaUSA shop has them in stock now! (http://kendama.bigcartel.com)
Haven't gotten my hands on one yet, that'll change Friday though by the sounds of it! I've heard good things.
Mine just arrived this afternoon! First impression: blown away.
Seriously, out of the box this thing is a lunar machine. That being said, it's definitely not too sticky. I've personally never played with a mugen but I've heard this tama has a similar feel.
This is hands down the nicest ozora I've ever played with and probably my second favorite kendama ever. Pick one up while you still can!
-_-
Im gonna have to eat my words and get one again.
I had the recommended seal one on my possession before i had to give it to someone else and i didn't want to dent it because it wasn't technically mine. so i was only able to place it in lighthouse. I thought it felt too tacky off my first judgment. But i am hearing nothing but good reviews.
Therefor my "to tacky comment" can and probably should just be ignored.
I want one, and I want one now! Haha they sound fresh.
I've only had time to do a couple of clicks but first impressions:
Straight out of the package it just looks great! The string hole is not really that centered, although it doesn't affect play. The stickyness is not that noticeable. I was expecting a sticky tama or a rough one like some KROM's or like my Sweets Frost. But it has a very similar feel to my yellow oozora, like the stickyness is an interplay between the paint and the roughness of the ken.
I am not that good at lunars and have been able to land some with it. It still needs a good amount of practice, similar to my other kendamas, so I would compare it to the yellow oozoras. If they had done something special or extra with the paint, I doubt that the JKA would allow it to have a competition seal.
Once I had (a lot) more clicks, I will try and write up a full review.
[plus, a shoutout to goodsfromjapan, which has a good service, (relatively) low shipping costs and very fast delivery time. I'm planning on ordering there more in the future. ]

Sounds awful.
