For those who aren't as quick off the mark as shalafi... The Advanced tricklist is out!

BKO 2013 Advanced Tricklist - juggling videos hosted @ Juggling.tv

Also, since Intermediate is a new division, any players who have previously competed in Advanced, but feel the level is (now?) too high for them are allowed to step back down to Intermediate.

It's a good list, a bunch of stuff I can't do very well. Will it be on the app soon? I'm too lazy to write it all down.
BKO 2011 - 2nd, SRC 2011 - 2nd,  SRC 2012 - 2nd, EJC 2012 (unicorns) - 2nd, SRC 2013 - 2nd, BKO 2013 - 3rd - Always the bridesmaid...

Question: I have been playing with the trapeze thingy and I find myself doing it inwards instead of outwards (which is as you do it in the video) is that one correct as well or not?

That's fine.

We just added this specification to the rules:
QuoteFor all tricks, no adjustment may be made to the grip during the trick (unless this is a specific requirement of the trick).

Help wanted! We need judges for the BKO. Please consider if you could help with any of the following:

Beginner Division Judge (3 judges required)
Requirements:
- 100% commitment to attending the BKO
- Willingness not to take part in Beginner division
- Deep familiarity with the BKO 2013 Beginner trick list and rules (see http://kendama.co.uk/bko2013.html )

Intermediate Division Judge (2 Judges required)
Requirements:
- 100% commitment to attending the BKO
- Willingness not to take part in Intermediate division
- Memorise the BKO 2013 Intermediate rules & trick list, in order (see http://kendama.co.uk/bko2013.html )

Dan Jam Judge (3 or 4 judges required)
Requirements:
- 100% commitment to attending the BKO
- Willingness not to take part in the Dan Jam
- Good level of familiarity with the current level of kendama tricks (i.e. you can recognise or describe the tricks, but you do not have to be able to do them)
- Ability to award marks to each competitor quickly (~30 seconds) (i.e. "That felt like a 5 for technical, a 7 for hit rate....")

Best Trick Compère & Secretary (1 of each required)
Requirements:
- 100% commitment to attending the BKO
- Willingness not to take part in the Best Trick division
- Ability to talk clearly on a microphone, and to keep the competition moving at a fast pace ("You missed, next! Keep moving round at the back there!")
- [Compère] Wide familiarity with the current level of kendama play, and good knowledge of trick names (or the ability to quickly describe them)
- [Secretary] Write down what the Judge tells you to!

Please reply here to volunteer, or to ask questions.

I'm not sure if I'll attend the BKO yet, but as soon as I am 100% committed I can do judging for beginners / intermediate.

And if people think I did a decent job as a compere, I wouldn't mind to repeat.

That said, the commit level is around 80% at the moment.

For anyone panicking that we just cancelled the Facebook event for the BKO in April, DON'T WORRY, the event IS STILL ON.

It's just that we've decided that there's no point having a facebook event page, when routinely over half the people who say they're "Going" don't show up. There's simply no point in us basing our plans on that kind of data. So please share http://kendama.co.uk/bko2013.html for BKO event info, and http://www.kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,644.0.html for BKO chat. We will be happy to answer any of your questions on the forum.

TRAVEL INFORMATION:

By Plane
Fly in to Bristol Airport. From there you can get a taxi (probably expensive unless you are in a group) into town, or get the Bristol Flyer bus to Bristol Temple Meads train station.
http://flyer.bristolairport.co.uk/timetable_from_bia_sun.php
"Adult Return from only £11.00"

If you are flying in on Friday, we will try to collect you. If you are flying in on Saturday before 12:00, maybe we can collect you. Please send us a private message via this forum. Sorry, we can't collect you on Sunday.

By Bus
From Bristol Temple Meads Station, take the number 70 bus to Horfield (Downend Road stop). It takes 23 minutes. Runs every 30 minutes on a Sunday.
Timetable:

When you pass these shops on the left, get off at the next stop.

Just up the road from those shops, at the corner of the traffic lights, is this hall, on the right. That's where the competition is. (The bus stop is just after the crossroads: you will have to turn around and walk for 30 seconds. :-) )

Okay everyone, time to start making your travel plans!

In the next week or so, we'll put up some plans for the Saturday too, so that those coming for the full weekend will have some idea of what's happening.

And as well as that, with 7 weeks to go, it's time to start getting rigorous with your practising too, Get on those ladders, folks - those speed trick times won't improve themselves, and consistency can always be improved! :)

Also, we're still looking for judges (see above), so don't be afraid to pitch in if you can!
