How to make your spike longer

Hi guys, I received my Walnut Stripe HG a couple months ago and have been shredding it well. When I received it, I realized the spike was a bit short. After a few months, it remained the same size. Is there any technique to lengthen the size of my spike?

Homegrowns are nice kendamas. The spikes are the length they are because they were designed that way. Changing the length of the spike would alter the balance of the kendama, or worse still, ruin it. Use it as it is!
