Hooray! It's finally here! (And a question for you . . .)

So today I finally took delivery of my first Kendama - a beautiful Ozora Natural.

Simply put, I'm totally hooked already :)

I've begun working through the moves in the KendamApp (which is excellent BTW) and have managed to land everything up to and including Kyu 4 so far (probably without much flair and panache but landed at least). I've definitely reached my ability ceiling right now as things have suddenly gone from do-able to really flippin' hard - love it, years of happy practice ahead.

Anyway, my question is:

As a new clicker, I don't have any ingrained habits or ways of doing things yet. I find it equally comfortable to use the pen grip 'pen style' or with 'spare fingers tucked into small cup' style. As I has the luxury of choosing which way I play, are there any advantages or disadvantages to one over the other for future moves or is it not an issue at all?

Any thoughts?

Fingers in cup adds stability to big cup/moshikame moves, but it also (obviously) precludes any moves including small cup catches. So learn both!

Kev

Great thanks, I suspected as much!

So basically: Learn everything all ways, then learn it all again backwards / upside down / eyes shut / asleep / awake / any time / any place / any way (although probably not while driving). ;)
